The project, conducted under the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme, brought together 12 partners in Glasgow, Ghent, Gothenburg, and Riga to develop the Sustainable Energy Action Plans of EU cities to integrate more energy reduction measures and create a replicable model for these processes.

The project utilized the Covenant of Mayors model and introduced tools and mechanisms that support cities in shaping their frameworks for energy actions.

Coordinated by the Institute for Future Cities, the project came to a close in July 2015 and published guides for cities aiming to develop their Sustainable Energy Action Plans and sustainable action plans based on the results of the four participating cities’ experiences.
