The Low Carbon City Development World Forum, now marking its 4th gathering, has quickly established itself as a major international development platform for sustainability issues. This summer, the Forum will join forces with the Development and Reform Commission of Shenzhen Municipality to connecting low-carbon professionals from all over the world to strengthen commitment to driving new research and demonstration projects regarding low-carbon solutions. Furthermore, this event also serves as The 1st Shenzhen Low Carbon Summit.

Shenzhen, as one of the first Special Economic Zones in China, has not only been transformed from a village into a megacity, with a population of over 10 million, but has also firmly established itself as a leading eco-city worldwide. The Low-Carbon City Development World Forum was initiated by the World Alliance for Low Carbon Cities (WALCC). The Alliance is a non-profit, international association, aimed at improving the international development of low-carbon cities and facilitating communication and cooperation. The three main objectives of the WALCC are: to serve as a learning platform for members, initiate and orchestrate international research projects for low-carbon development, and be a globally active promoter of low-carbon initiatives. The Forum features five tracks of low-carbon development: Urban Planning, Urban Transportation, Green Building, and Renewable Resources and Smart City.
