Valmet Automotive, a founding member of the WALCC, announced, on February 28th, its plan to launch large scale production of battery packs in Salo, Finland. At the plant, the company will produce batteries for the needs of the automotive industry and will begin production before the end of the year. With the launch of the Salo plant, Valmet Automotive takes the next step in its strategy to become a globally leading supplier of battery packs and push Finland’s battery industry forward.

With its long-time support of the WALCC and its activities, Valmet Automotive has displayed its commitment to the advancement of low-carbon goals and furthering of sustainability in the automotive industry. The launch of the volume production of electric vehicle batteries makes Valmet Automotive an integral part of the effort to reduce the levels of harmful emissions produced in transportation which constitute an estimated 25% share of all global emissions.
